OVERVIEW

Defending clients in pursuit of equity and fairness

Individuals who choose to blow the whistle on their employer’s unethical or illegal behavior face an uphill battle. Whistleblowers facing retaliation need counsel with experience in and out of the courtroom. They also need backing from a law firm that understands and believes them. That is why they hire us.

At Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig, we value the truth. This is why we represent whistleblowers. We help whistleblowers manage and assess the legal risks associated with whistleblowing and defend those who have been terminated or otherwise suffered from employer retaliation.

Our experience in government and regulatory disputes

Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig’s lawyers have experience litigating claims under federal whistleblower laws and the False Claims Act. The False Claims Act imposes liability on companies and individuals who defraud governmental programs. Our legal team has helped whistleblowing clients file civil lawsuits alleging Medicare and Medicaid fraud, defense contractor fraud, and other government contractor fraud, bringing those who defraud taxpayers to justice and recovering monetary damages for the whistleblower.

We have also defended clients against strategic lawsuits against public participation (SLAPP). SLAPP lawsuits are intended to intimidate and silence whistleblowers by burdening them with litigation costs. Our legal team understands the nuances of SLAPP lawsuits. We have considerable experience filing and defending against anti-SLAPP motions for both individuals and businesses and recouping attorneys’ and other legal expenses from the plaintiff.

Whether before a governmental agency or judge, Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig has the expertise to serve our clients’ interests without exposing them to unnecessary risk.

What we do

  • Assist possible whistleblowers in assessing evidence, determining the quality of their case, and presenting the evidence to the Department of Justice and other federal and state government agencies, maximizing possible monetary damages awarded to the whistleblower
  • Represent whistleblowers against retaliatory employer action, including demotion, discrimination, and termination
  • Defend whistleblowers in connection with SLAPP lawsuits
