Seizing opportunity and maximizing your business’s potential

Set-aside contracts can be incredibly helpful to smaller businesses by limiting competition and affording them opportunities they may not otherwise have. But understanding your business’s eligibility for set-aside contracts, finding opportunities, applying for certification, and assembling proper documentation is time-consuming and stressful, and it takes you away from your core work responsibilities. That is why you need experienced business lawyers to guide you through the set-aside contracting process.

Our experience with set-aside contracts and certification

Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig represents businesses at various stages of development, from small startups to well-established international corporations, and across numerous industries. We work with a variety of businesses eligible for government set-aside contracts, including 8(a), women-owned, disadvantaged business, historically underutilized business zones (HUBZone), and service-disabled veteran-owned small business set-asides.

Our team includes lawyers with decades of combined experience in business law, the military, and government contracts. Some of our attorneys are also former business owners themselves, which means they can understand your mindset, circumstances, and goals and can leverage their expertise to help you achieve your goals.

What we do

  • Help clients take advantage of small business programs administered by the Small Business Administration (SBA)
  • Evaluate small and medium businesses’ potential eligibility for general or special interest group set-asides, including contract awards and subcontract participation for small businesses, disadvantaged businesses, women-owned small businesses, veteran-owned businesses, service-disabled-veteran-owned small businesses, and HUBZone businesses
  • Assist clients in meeting and properly documenting their qualifications for various categories of small businesses under the Small Business Administration's regulations
  • Represent clients in defending protests of its small business eligibility or size status before the SBA
  • Handle small business appeals before the Office of Hearings and Appeals of the SBA
