Biography

Attorney Joshua B. Kons has a breadth of experience in securities arbitration proceedings and financial services litigation matters. Prior to attending law
school, he worked on an equity trading desk for a national bank, where he learned the securities business from the ground up. After receiving his law degree, Mr. Kons worked as an in-house attorney for a Fortune 500 company, where he was responsible for corporate and commercial transactional matters. Prior to forming his own practice in 2012, Mr. Kons was in private practice with several law firms where the focus of his practice was representing broker-dealers, financial... advisors, and investors in FINRA arbitration matters. Mr. Kons received a B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his J.D. from the Pepperdine University School of Law. Mr. Kons concentrated his legal education in the areas of corporate and securities law and served as a senior fellow at the Geoffrey Palmer Center for Entrepreneurship and the Law. Mr. Kons is a member of the State Bar of Connecticut, the State Bar of Illinois, the State Bar of California and the State Bar of Wisconsin, and is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Central District of California, Eastern District of California, Northern District of California, Southern District of California, Eastern District of Wisconsin, Western District of Wisconsin, Northern District of Illinois, Southern District of Illinois, District of Connecticut, District of Colorado, and District of North Dakota. He is a member of the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association (PIABA).

Joshua Kons has represented more than 500 investors in FINRA arbitration proceedings. His significant accomplishments include representing a group of Ponzi scheme victims with damages in excess of $10 million in FINRA arbitration against a national broker-dealer, multiple confidential FINRA arbitration settlements exceeding $1 million, as well as being named special FINRA arbitration counsel to a bankruptcy trustee in the Central District of California. In 2014-2016, 2018-2023, Joshua Kons was recognized in securities litigation as a “Super Lawyer®, which recognizes no more than 2.5% of attorneys.

  • Ginzkey et al v. National Securities Corporation, Case No. 2:18-cv-01773-RSM (Co-lead counsel in nationwide class action against broker-dealer involving failed solar securities offering; $40 million in losses).
  • Aleem et al v. Pearce & Durick et al., Case No. 1:15-cv-00085-RRE-ARS (D.N.D, nationwide class action, $60 million in losses – approx. 1,000 class members).
  • Haas et al v. Navient Solutions, et al., Bankruptcy Adv. Pro. No. 16-03175 (Bankr. S.D.T.X., class action; $80 million in alleged illegal debt collection practices).
  • Tashanna B. Golden fka Tashanna B. Pearson v. National Collegiate Student Loan Trust 2005-3 et al., Adv. Pro. No. 17-1005-ESS (Bankr. E.D.N.Y, nationwide class action, private student loan bankruptcy discharge violations)
