Biography

Jonah Dickey’s practice is primarily focused on family law cases involving complex asset division as well as military retirement and federal retirement issues. He has the unique ability to provide his clients with a variety of services and legal advice because he has prior experience in criminal and traffic defense, estate planning, corporate and non-profit law, personal injury matters, and involuntary commitment hearings. He grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he has a B.S. from Oral Roberts University (1996), and he has a J.D. from Regent University School of Law (2000). Jonah is licensed in Virginia and Alabama..., is a member of the Virginia Beach Bar Association, and is a prior member of the Houston County Bar Association in Alabama.

Jonah has been representing clients in divorce, custody, visitation, and support matters for most of his career, but he has dedicated much of his focus solely to family law matters for the past 12 years. I have a passion for representing current and retired military service members and I enjoy mentoring and educating other attorneys on military divorce issues. He also has a significant background as a successful and prominent criminal defense attorney, which serves his clients well when family law and divorce issues cross paths with criminal defense issues such as domestic violence and protective order violations.

Jonah has a reputation for being patient and professional in the tensest situations and does well with helping his clients to also stay calm and patient while walking through what can often be considered the worst season of their lives. Although he is a very skilled and proficient trial attorney, he always goes the extra mile to amicably resolve matters when it best serves his client’s needs.

His main priorities in life include his faith and his family, and he uses his personal experiences from both to better serve his clients. In his spare time, he enjoys physical activities such as surfing and biking, and you will never find him without his family close by. He is very active in his local church community and serves in an advisory position as general counsel for an international media-based ministry.
