Overview

Addressing emerging cyber issues from the server room to the deal room

The digital age brings with it great opportunities as well as serious risks. Companies must tread the line carefully as they exploit the value of data while staying aware of evolving data privacy and security laws and shifting legal, political, and market landscapes.

Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig’s cybersecurity, technology transaction, and data breach team includes attorneys with deep IT backgrounds. Our team understands the nuances of cyber risks and is ready to help businesses consider risks from every angle. We understand what protections and policies companies need to safeguard their data, comply with laws and regulations, and address emerging risks in business contracts, mergers, acquisitions, federal contracts and more. We are deeply versed in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) requirements, the evolving Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), the FTC Safeguards Rule, and the related federal government regulations and compliance requirements.

Our experience in cybersecurity, technology transactions, and data breach management

Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig’s cybersecurity practice has extensive experience identifying and mitigating risk in policies and procedures, business transactions and cyber-incident response plans. Our team provides expert guidance on protective contract negotiation and contract management, intellectual property protection, and security breach response.

In an era of increasing cyber threats, protecting businesses, their customers, and their information assets from data breaches, hacking, and other cyber risks is crucial. Our cybersecurity practice focuses on helping businesses develop robust security strategies, comply with relevant laws and regulations, and respond effectively in the event of a cyber incident. We offer comprehensive services, including risk assessments, policy and risk management plan development, incident response planning, and regulatory compliance guidance.

Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig’s attorneys have deep expertise in assisting clients, large and small, with navigating the complexities of the new threats emerging to businesses. It is no longer the case where a company can simply “pay for insurance” to mitigate risk; the recent years of cybersecurity breaches have created a vastly different risk landscape, and our team is here to help companies evolve their risk management and breach-response frameworks. We work with managed service providers (MSPs), software providers, defense contractors, cybersecurity providers, resellers, IT service providers, and federal and state contractors across the country.

In the unfortunate event of a data breach, time is of the essence. Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig has extensive experience in assisting businesses in addressing data breaches efficiently and effectively. Our practical, business-minded attorneys will be with our clients any time of day to help them manage every aspect of a data breach to best protect company interests. We guide clients through the entire breach-response process, from incident response planning and immediate post-breach management to breach notification requirements, regulatory compliance, and potential litigation. Our goal is to minimize the impact of a data breach, protect our clients’ reputation, and build trust in stakeholders.
